Well, if you’re paying close attention, and you read cnn.com everyday (How in the world could you do that without losing your head?) you’ll notice that these are the headlines from Tuesday. I just was not around a computer on Monday, so I couldn’t get them down. Hopefully nothing important happened on Monday, or over the weekend.
Anyway, here’s the next Talkin’ Headline. I’ll follow tomorrow (probably) with the re-recorded version from last year and then on Friday with a new song, which I haven’t written yet, but I got a couple ideas shifting around. Plus, I know something’ll get my blood rushing by then.
Well I basically did another complete rewrite for this re-recording. I still really like the original, which you can listen to here for comparison, but this new one is growing on me. It’s different for sure.
Wrote this one last night. Came out in one big burst, in probably about 5 or 10 minutes. After I’d written it, though, I did go back and change the chorus. Originally I had it like this:
But when I’m with you
I get so confused
And don’t know who I am
or what to do
But after I played it through a couple times I realized that’s not exactly how I wanted to say it. I was going for something more like, you get so confused into realizing what’s right. Not, so confused that you have no idea about anything.
So, I made that fix and then recorded it. Wasn’t even really planning on writing or recording a song yesterday. Was feeling so thick with hay fever that I couldn’t barely keep my eyes open.
Here’s the re-recording of the tune I released this week, last year. This one I did in 3/4 time. Go ahead and compare it to the original by going here for a listen.
I also, as you can see, basically rewrote the whole song. There’s elements in there from the first version, but, for whatever reason, I just couldn’t simply redo the music. Had to mess around all the words too. Maybe it’s still the same idea for the song, maybe not. Probably it’s got something different in there, wouldn’t you say.
