I began writing it on Friday and then finished it off last night. Started off as a kind of slow tune. Maybe even a little sentimental. Maybe not. Last night, though, I rearranged the whole thing after I’d finished off the words and recorded it as a slow number.
Just wasn’t working out slowly. I couldn’t find the right key. That sort of stuff.
I like the new arrangement, though. Maybe I’ll post the other recording on Thursday or Friday this week. Just for kicks.
I started it off, and wrote the repeating chorus line first and then the first verse and I felt like I was going somewhere, but then got a little stumped.
The next verses were a little more of a struggle. Took a couple days to get them done. To get all the words in the order that I wanted. But I think it rounded out nicely.
Here’s the new song for this week. Started it Sunday night and finished it up on Monday and Tuesday on the train.
This one’s kinda more a gospel tune, I supposed, although, I’m not entirely sure what it’s all about. Parts of it I know for sure, other parts I don’t.
Here’s the new song for this week…finally. I wrote this one yesterday after some divine inspiration. Not divine in the sense that the Lawd Almighty came down and smote this song upon a rock. But, divine in the beautiful sense. In the loving sense.
If that makes any sense….
Anyway, I think it turned out pretty good. I’m guessing I’ll play it out, but will probably do it a little faster. That also means there’ll be a harp break in there somewhere.
Maybe you’ll catch me playing it at the Whistler on November 20? That’s the next show, if ya didn’t know. I’m playing the first half of Lawrence Peters’ Country Throw-down. It’s a great time cause once Lawrence spins records after the music the rest of the night. So you can shake your rump til Monday comes. Check out the facebook invite for more info.
Wrote this one last night. Came out in one big burst, in probably about 5 or 10 minutes. After I’d written it, though, I did go back and change the chorus. Originally I had it like this:
But when I’m with you
I get so confused
And don’t know who I am
or what to do
But after I played it through a couple times I realized that’s not exactly how I wanted to say it. I was going for something more like, you get so confused into realizing what’s right. Not, so confused that you have no idea about anything.
So, I made that fix and then recorded it. Wasn’t even really planning on writing or recording a song yesterday. Was feeling so thick with hay fever that I couldn’t barely keep my eyes open.
Well, here, finally, is the new song for this week. Thought I’d be able to get it up yesterday, but I couldn’t pull it together.
Anyway, I wrote this one on Monday night. It’s basically done, except for maybe a mouth harp break or two, which I didn’t put in this recording because I got the hay fever bad these days.
Hope ya enjoy.
Be sure to come back tomorrow to hear the re-recorded version of last year’s song. Gonna be a doo-zee.
