The Talkin’ Headline Blues #77

Here’s the version of Talkin’ Headline that I performed live on WBEZ’s Eight Forty-Eight on Friday, April 20. You can read about that here, as well as listen to the interview I gave and see a video of the complete song. Yeah, I did holster up the wrong mouth harp for the video. So what.

If you want, you can listen to the full, hour-long show here. I do an instrumental version of “Leavin’ You” in the middle and also a quick verse of “40 days and 40 nights” at the end of the show.

Also, please don’t forget to go check out the Poor Elvis Kickstarter project. We’re one-third of the way to our goal after just 13 days! Help us get halfway there by the time 20 days have gone by.

Remember, you get some fantastic rewards for donating.

Thanks for listening and helping us make some music!

Song Post: The Sinking of the Deepwater Horizon

In honor of the 2nd anniversary of the Great BP Oil Slick of 2010, here’s a version of my song “The Sinking of the Deepwater Horizon.”

This one is a rewrite that I posted last year. You can read the description of it here. Or go listen to the original version and read about it here.

Also, did you catch me doing a special Talkin’ Headline Blues on WBEZ this morning? No? Well, you can listen and read about the radio spot here. There’s also a video of the entire song.

I’ll record and post the live radio version on Monday next week. It’s number 77, for those keeping count.

And, please don’t forget to go check out the Poor Elvis Kickstarter project. We could really use your support getting our new 7-inch vinyl record pressed and taken out on tour in June. You get some fantastic rewards for donating.

Thanks for listening and helping us make some music!

The Talkin’ Headline Blues #76

I can’t believe I actually got this done for today. But I did.

In other news…I’ll be playing a special live version of the Talkin’ Headline Blues on WBEZ 91.5 fm this Friday (4/20). It’ll be during the Eight Forty-Eight program running from 9-10am. You can also listen in on the internet, here.

I’ll be writing the radio version either Thursday night or Friday morning, or both…to get the most up-to-date headlines. Wish me luck…

Also, remember that the Poor Elvis kickstarter project is still moving along. We’ve got 15 backers, so far, after just 5 days, and are almost a fourth of the way to the goal. It’s really easy to donate, and you can get some great rewards.

The Talkin’ Headline Blues #75

Hey hey…look what I finally recorded and got up here. This week’s Talkin’ Headline. Nothing special or specific about this one. Just something to listen to and ease back into your brain.

I do, however, have some really cool news. I got 2 songs recorded and ready to put on a 7-inch vinyl record that’ll spin at 45 howlin’ rpms. After it gets pressed and primped I’m taking it out on the road for a tour of Rust Belt cities.

This all happens starting June 1.

“Why are you telling me this now?” you may ask…

Well, you can order your copy of the record now! How about that?!

Now, it’s really easy to do. Just click right here, and you’ll be taken to a kickstarter project page where you can watch a video explaining it all.

Then, after watching the video, you can donate to the project. In doing so, not only do you get the two new songs on sweet sweet vinyl, but you also can get some really original and fantastic rewards depending on how much you give.

Things like…Polaroid pictures and letters mailed to your door from tour stops, hand-printed posters, old (almost out-of-print) CDs, and a host of other things.

All the donations go towards the pressing of the record and the tour. You can be part of the process!

YOWZA!

So, please go check it out. Won’t take more than a minute or two.

Thanks so much!
