I Should Say Farewell is first new song I wrote in 2014 (and the first new one I’ve wrote in a long time). Sometimes you just have to do it. You get an idea and no matter what’s been getting in your way, you just say, “fuck it.”
I said, “fuck it.”
But only after a week and a half of sitting on this tune and thinking I’d never write anything else. I mean, by choice. Like, just give it all up. All of this.
But then I said, “fuck it.”
Sometimes that helps.
I wasn’t really sure what this song was about, but after singing it a few times and recording it, I’m gonna guess that it’s about Noah. That’s my guess. It’s biblical. That’s probably why I had no idea when it first came out. Didn’t know why I had to write the words I had to. Didn’t know what they meant at all.
Sometimes that happens
And then I say to myself, “fuck it.”
This is the second version of 40 Days and 40 Nights, originally written and recorded in 2012. I accidentally deleted the original post the other day when I was cleaning up some things here, so I’m just reposting this to get it back up.
Have a listen.
Well, here’s the first new song of the new year, 40 Days and 40 Nights. Didn’t think I’d quite be able to get this one out. Was having a lot of trouble coming up with any ideas for anything at all.
Then I got this…
I really don’t think this one’s completely done. Maybe it needs another part that’s different, or two more verses. Something. There’s lots that I do like about it, though. I really like the chorus. I’ll admit that I’ve had the idea of using “mmm’s” in a song for a while. I’m just glad they fit in pretty well to this one.
So, I guess that’s it.
So now, on into 2012. Lots more new songs coming. Talkin’ Headlines (one tomorrow for sure) and re-recorded versions of 2011 songs every week. And also maybe some videos of some sort (I still gotta work out what exactly those may be, though).
So, see ya around soon.
